Originally recorded: September 22, 2026 --- In retrospect, I think my plans regarding the Wario Land series is probably the point where I should have scaled back, but instead just decided to bite off more than I could chew. It's like, you would think that I'd feel roughly the same about the Goemon streams this year... because they're both three games apiece. But the last game in this upcoming assortment is a whole-ass Wii game. Even if it's not a proper seventh-gen game with all the bells and whistles, that's still probably going to make up the bulk of this little series. Oh well, if I still have any of my mojo flowing, I guess it'll be worth it if a new game finally gets announced. Virtual Boy Wario Land -- God, I wish someone had come up with a more clever nickname for that one -- is effectively the "white sheep" of the Virtual Boy library. It's quite literally the one game for the system that everyone agrees is worth playing... to the point where there were rumors that it was going to get some kind of a re-release or remake on the 3DS. In a sense, it feels more like a proper Wario Land game than the previous "Super Mario Land 3", which is usually credited as the progentior of the series. Honestly, without the goggles and the 3D effect, I kind of like the Virtual Boy's red-on-black color scheme. Truth be told, there have actually been times where I've wanted to recreate it while playing Game Boy games... just for a more interesting look, as opposed to the greyscale or "Four Shades of Green" look you typically see when playing the games. But getting it just right can be tricky. In the end, I stumbled at the last gate and couldn't beat the final boss. But there was an even worse surprise waiting for me after I called it quits for the night: turns out my battery save failed. Worse yet, I was so curious about whether or not it would work that I ended up breaking my own golden rule and didn't bother taking extra precautions. Fortunately, I've since replayed the game and made it all the way back to the end of the game... but as a disclaimer, you're probably going to notice some extreme differences between my status from the original playthrough and how I'm going to finish things. A lot of that stems from the fact that I just remember a lot of the solutions to things that tripped me up during the livestream, but we'll credit the rest to "movie magic". Either way, I'm hoping to wrap up the game early next time and then hop straight into the next one. Wish me luck!
