In 2056, the first biannual North African Regional Compact Tournament, featuring council club teams from five countries across the region, was held. The final round saw the Tunis Coursers face off against the Alexandria Ankhs, with the Ankhs winning decisively in a 8-0 outcome. The Cairo-based band Seba Sebayt would go on to release this record, Lion Gloves of the Sands, within weeks of the victory. Baseball historian Frank Heward writes, "The first North African Regional Compact Tournament, held in scorching conditions and featuring talented rosters who braved them, was a success not just for the Alexandria Ankhs, but also for the compact movement and arguably global baseball as a whole. It was now clear that baseball had become a true world phenomenon and that increasingly more complex structures would take shape to facilitate the playing of the game globally."
Lyrics:
Lion gloves of the sands
The field was hot, their brows carried sweat
Lion gloves of the sands
But that day they made their foes regret
Lion gloves of the sands
For they hit fair, for the sun they set
Lion gloves of the sands
And the lion arms were greater yet
Allah witness
Lion gloves of the sands
Lion gloves of the sands
Tell me, do you believe in legends?
Lion gloves of the sands
Allah granted, Allah protected
Lion gloves of the sands
This victory of theirs is precious
Lion gloves of the sands
Cast aside your hopes and wishes
For you face
Lion gloves of the sands
