九歌·山鬼 | The Goddess Who Waits Forever — Mountain Spirit of the Nine Songs | Epic Chinese Music 國風音樂

九歌·山鬼 — The Goddess Who Waits Forever 🌙⛰️ Over two thousand years ago, the poet Qu Yuan wrote of a mountain goddess — crowned with fig vines and dodder, riding a red leopard with a striped wildcat at her side, her chariot of magnolia hung with cassia banners. She gathers fragrant flowers for the one she loves and climbs to the highest peak to meet him… but he never comes. Through sun and rain, autumn leaves and winter snow, she waits beneath the ancient pine. Thunder rolls, gibbons cry in the night, the wind howls through the trees — and still she waits, until at last she becomes the mist of the mountain itself. An original Chinese instrumental in four chapters — guzheng, konghou, guqin, pipa, erhu, bronze bells and deep drums — paired with an enamel-and-gold-leaf retelling of 《山鬼》 from the Nine Songs 《九歌》. 🎼 Chapters 0:00 Chapter I — The Mountain Goddess 山中有人 3:01 Chapter II — The Meeting 含睇宜笑 6:40 Chapter III — The Long Wait 表獨立兮山之上 10:42 Chapter IV — The Storm 雷填填兮雨冥冥 📜 From the poem "Alone I stand upon the mountain top; the clouds roll on below me." 表獨立兮山之上，雲容容兮而在下。 "Thunder rumbles, the rain is dark; gibbons cry through the night. The wind sighs, the trees moan — I long for you, and grieve in vain." 雷填填兮雨冥冥，猨啾啾兮狖夜鳴。 風颯颯兮木蕭蕭，思公子兮徒離憂。 🎧 Best with headphones. Let the mountain carry you away. Original music by Myth Strings 神弦.
