My Wife Has Never Played Zelda… Until Now

My wife insists she’s not a gamer… so naturally I handed her a real Nintendo 64 controller and dropped her into The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the very first time. I first played this game when I was about 12 years old, so getting to experience it again through someone who has absolutely no idea what’s coming was pretty incredible. In this episode, Emma has to find her first sword and shield, survive the Great Deku Tree, learn some classic N64 controls, solve puzzles the game barely explains, and eventually face her first Zelda boss. Somewhere along the way, though, something changes. She starts solving puzzles on her own, landing shots with the slingshot, lighting torches without being told what to do…and making a pretty convincing argument that the name Not a Gamer Girl might already be outdated.
