Part 2: Switzerland to Italy Part 1:    • Tour du Mont Blanc - Backpacking 103 miles...   Part 3:    • Tour du Mont Blanc - Backpacking 103 Miles...   The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is one of the most scenic hikes in Europe, crossing through 3 countries and passing countless glaciers, waterfalls, and mountains. One of my good friends, Thibault (the original person who introduced me into the Boundary Waters back in MN), lives nearby in Lyon and together we decided to backpack the whole thing. It was one of the most incredible adventures of my life, and certainly the most beautiful. I learned a lot about backpacking culture in Europe, got to wander through countless small mountain villages, and enjoyed my first non-solo long distance adventure. My base weight was 9.76lb / 4.48kg according to my lighterpack, although I suspect it was heavier since I didn't get a chance to properly weigh it at Thibault's apartment, and the weight at 02:16 included food and water. All my gear worked wonderfully, my Dandee 35 (review is coming) felt incredible the whole way, my XMid 1p Gen 2 was ever better than expected, and my XLite Womens + Enigma 20 were rock solid as always. https://lighterpack.com/r/qan92n In total, I got over 7.5 hours of footage from 3 cameras, took 6000 photos, and that's why it took me 4 months to make these videos. I switched to shooting my videos on a Sony ZV-1 rather than my A7iii since it offers similar features (hlg/slog) to my A7iii, while being significantly smaller/lighter and having a zoom lens, which I miss. The sacrifices in image quality are worth it for these types of hikes, and it has some significant advantages: the aforementioned zoom lens, a better internal mic, and most importantly it has gyro information alongside the video files that allow me to stabilize the footage to buttery smooth success in Gyroflow. With my A7iii, stabilization was always difficult, so I mostly used it for static shots. In addition to the ZV-1, I carried my trusty GoPro Hero 6 which I stabilized using ReelSteady, and there's even a few clips I shot on my S22 when I wanted something quick. The 8K is actually not bad, and doesn't crush the fine details like the 4k modes, although it pales in comparison to the ZV1 or GoPro, however I'll be interested to see how many people can tell which shots are which. I edit and grade everything in DaVinci Resolve 17. The overlays showing Day/Elevation/Distance were made in the Fusion editor. The mountain map sequences were made in Blender, following a more refined version of the techniques I used in my Collegiate Loop hike (   • 160.7 Mile Solo Colorado Trail Loop  ), for a behind the scenes of that process, I made a video showing it and explaining why I couldn't make the map in Resolve's Fusion editor (   • Collegiate Loop Mountain Range in Blender  ). I really pushed Blender and my poor computer to it's limit on this one, I'm still a Blender novice, but I think I found the maximum resolution of photos you can import (the satellite terrain photo was 30515x34248). If anyone knows what that limit actually is and what issue I was running into trying to go higher, I'd love to hear in the comments.
