9 MONTHS WITH THE JAECOO 5 BEV! ⚡🚗 I've now owned my Jaecoo 5 BEV for 9 months, so I thought it was time for another real-world ownership update. Rather than another full review, this video is all about what's happened during the last few months — the things that are still annoying me, what's improved, and whether the Jaecoo 5 BEV is proving to be a good electric car to live with day to day. Unfortunately, some of the issues I've mentioned in previous videos are still not resolved. 📻 Poor radio reception – I'm still experiencing poor radio reception and, as far as I'm aware, there still isn't a confirmed fix for the problem. 📏 Mileage still showing in kilometres – Even though the car is set to display miles, the recorded mileage is still being stored/displayed in kilometres in certain areas. This is something I'd really like to see corrected. 🔄 OTA updates – I've only had one over-the-air update during my 9 months of ownership, and unfortunately I didn't notice that it actually changed very much. 🔧 Dealership network growing – One positive is that more Jaecoo dealerships are opening around me. Hopefully, as the network grows, technician knowledge will improve and spare parts will become easier to obtain when things do go wrong. ⚠️ The strange dashboard incident – The other day, my driver's display suddenly went into a minimal mode where it was only showing my speed and nothing else. I'm still not sure how I it changed o this setting! But holding the star button down for 25 seconds forces a console restart to fix this. 🔌 The granny charger I purchased has proved worthwhile – I bought a portable/granny charger as a backup and it's actually proving really useful. Leaving the car charging overnight can give me around 50% charge, which is more than enough for many everyday journeys. 🐶 Dog-friendly changes – I've also changed the floor covering in the car and bought a new rubber floor mat, which our dog seems to prefer. The boot liner hasn't been quite as successful, though. Our dog didn't get on particularly well with it because she seemed to slip around on the surface. ⛽ Fuel prices vs electric – With diesel in the UK around £2.05 per litre in October 2026, the running-cost advantage of an electric car is becoming increasingly noticeable. It's certainly making the decision to run an EV look like a good one at the moment. So after 9 months, is the Jaecoo 5 BEV still the right car for us? There are definitely things I like about it, but there are also some frustrations that Jaecoo really needs to address. Let me know in the comments if you own a Jaecoo 5 — particularly if you've experienced the radio reception problem, kilometre/mileage issue or dashboard display problem. I'd be really interested to know if you've found a solution. 👍 If you enjoy real-world EV ownership, running, adventure and our other videos, please consider liking the video and subscribing to Exit The House.
