Superintendent Kalahar and Executive Director Eric Anderson — who spent 10 years as principal at WHS are taking you inside the spaces the bond proposal would preserve and renovate. All 100,000 square feet of them.
Spoiler: there's a cannonball. A Frozen costume. A trombone. And a mirror flex. Here's what we're keeping and modernizing if the bond is approved by voters:
🏀 Three gyms — new flooring, lighting, and air conditioning
🏊 The pool — updated mechanical systems, expanded pool deck
🏋️ The weight room — updated equipment and air conditioning
🚿 Locker rooms — updated fixtures, plumbing, and finishes
🎭 The auditorium — the largest in a five-county area, updated lighting, sound, seating, and dressing rooms
🎵 The band room block — updated acoustics, ventilation, and practice spaces
Preserving these spaces instead of replacing everything saves taxpayers an estimated $20 million.
