Flying Scotsman Steals the Show: 60103 At Speed - 2026

A long trip for the most famous locomotive in the world, LNER A3, 60103 Flying Scotsman. Under new custodians, Flying Scotsman was visiting Oxfordshire, West Berkshire and Wiltshire, with four circular trips over 2 days from Didcot Parkway to Didcot Parkway, via Newbury and Westbury. The route featured high speed running along the Great Western Main Line, and gradients like Savernake, and Dauntsey. The four trips were sold out, despite critics of the expensive fares; Scotsman is a world famous locomotive and the promoters, Fox and Edward’s event and Vintage Trains have high costs to overcome. The A1’s celebrity status certainly brought the crowds out to the lineside.
