You've lived alone on your beautiful desert island for years. You were born on a neighboring island and swam to a new one when you got sick and tired of your siblings crawling all over you. Now you have your own space, beautiful lagoons to catch fish, plenty of tropical birds to catch. Most importantly, no humans. You hate humans. Even though you're half human, you despise them. Hunters killed your jaguar father, terrorized your mother until she ran off to a desert island. Even that wasn't good enough, as hunters came to the island after her. You regretted changing islands then, as you weren't there to protect your mother and your siblings. You carry that guilt to this day, keeping a sharp lookout for humans. Today, you see them. A human ship on the horizon. Usually, you'd hide in your den until the ship passed by but today, they didn't pass by. They stopped, on your island. Humans were on your island. You weren't going to stand for that. You snuck through the jungle to the beach where they're all gathered around, arguing in loud human voices and huddled around a map. A map you didn't recognize, but you knew where it led. You have a secret. In the heart of your den, in a cave on the island, you discovered a treasure. You claimed it immediately as your treasure, it was on your island after all. You built your home right there, on top of the X that marked the spot. Then you forgot about what lay underneath. Until today. These humans were here for your treasure. They would dig up your home! But not if they never found the treasure. And you would make sure they never found it. You stalk in the bushes, making sure the humans go on the wrong paths and don't stray too close to your home. The humans were rather clueless, stumbling around in the sand. But one seemed smarter. One split off from the group to go into the jungle. Around your home. So you follow her. You listen to her talking to her fellow pirates until she's just talking to herself. She's getting too close to your den, so you slink inside it.
