Warrant officers: if GCSS-Army says a part is on hand, can your team find it, verify the quantity, and explain whether it’s available for maintenance?
In this Maintenance University training, Army Warrant Officer James Marin walks through physical inventory preparation and the checks that help identify problems before they affect readiness.
This training is based on my experience and understanding. It does not replace official Army doctrine, regulations, instruction, or current GCSS-Army GTRAC transaction guides. Follow current guidance and your command’s procedures. Record actual counts, investigate discrepancies, and make only authorized, documented adjustments.
This session covers:
• Why warrant officers need to look beyond inventory completion percentages
• Reviewing parts receipts and work-order issues before inventory
• Using MAT SIT to review quantities and zero-balance lines
• Verifying storage bin locations and parts accountability
• Reviewing stock settings, batches, and movement history
• Using Excel to organize inventory preparation
• An introduction to physical inventory creation through My Workplace
Built for warrant officers responsible for advising commanders, developing maintenance teams, and turning inventory data into informed readiness decisions. Maintenance and supply NCOs and clerks can also apply these lessons.
Before your next inventory, ask your team: Can someone else locate the part, confirm the quantity, and explain its status using our records?
