Master Jupiter processing from start to finish! In this step-by-step tutorial, we walk through the complete post-processing pipeline using Kepler—from initial wavelet sharpening and frequency denoising to RGB alignment, de-rinding, moon recovery, and multi-stack de-rotation. Whether you are working with a single stacked image or a 30-minute sequence, this guide covers every tab and slider you need to pull out crisp cloud belts, festoons, and faint Galilean moons without introducing harsh artifacts. 🔗 Download Kepler & Resources: Kepler GitHub Repository: https://github.com/tbgh011/kepler Latest Release: https://github.com/tbgh011/kepler/rel... ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS / CHAPTERS 0:00 - Introduction & Prerequisites 0:45 - Step 1: Loading Your Stacked Image 1:15 - Step 2: Wavelet Sharpening (Layers, LRGB Convolve & Autosize Filter) 3:10 - Step 3: FFT Frequency Denoise (POST vs. PRE Tuning) 4:50 - Step 4: RGB Balancing, Auto-Alignment & Vibrance 6:15 - Step 5: Advanced Tools (Deconvolution, CLAHE, Levels & Curves) 7:35 - Step 6: De-rind Limb Artifacts (Mask Setup & Settings) 8:50 - Step 7: Orbital Tab (Galilean Moon Recovery & Placement) 10:20 - Step 8: De-rotation (Multi-Stack Workflow & Ephemerides Alignment) 12:15 - Step 9: Batch Processing Multiple Images 13:00 - Step 10: Analyzing Frame Quality (Stats Tab) 13:40 - Step 11: Exporting 16-Bit Master Files 📋 WORKFLOW QUICK REFERENCE (SUMMARY): Load: Open your stacked TIFF, PNG, or FITS image. Wavelet Tab: • Layer 1 (Fine detail): Sharpen 150–200 • Layer 2 (Belt boundaries): Sharpen 80–120 • Layer 3 (Coarse zones): Sharpen 40–80 • Mode: LRGB Convolve | Chroma Denoise: 1.0–2.0 • Filter: Use Autosize Filter for automatic noise estimation. FFT Tab: Apply POST-sharpening FFT Denoise to eliminate exposed high-frequency noise (Start ~60%, End 90%). RGB Tab: Auto RGB Balance (nudge Red up, Blue down for warm tones) and auto-align channels to fix dispersion fringing. Tools Tab: Use Deconvolution for seeing recovery, gentle CLAHE for local contrast, and set Gamma (1.05–1.10) / White Point (0.85–0.95). De-rind Tab: Clean edge halos (Edge 45–55, Feather 6–10; Saturn mode OFF). Orbital Tab: Enable Moon Recovery, boost preview (5×–50×), draw moon circles, and fine-tune size with [ / ]. De-rotate Tab: For 20–30 min capture spans, add moderately sharpened stacks, set observer coordinates, fit frames (Shift+F11), run IAU-2018 de-rotation, and re-sharpen the result. Export: Save as 16-bit TIFF for maximum dynamic range. 🔔 Subscribe & Stay Updated: If you found this walkthrough helpful, please consider liking the video, subscribing to the channel, and dropping any questions or feature requests in the comments below! #Astrophotography #Jupiter #Kepler Software #PlanetaryImaging #Astronomy #ImageProcessing #Space
