BMW N54 Intake Valve Cleaning: CRC vs ThreeBond vs Walnut Shell Comparison Carbon build up on direct injection engines is a huge problem, so hopefully this will help some people decide which method they choose when the time comes to get the intake valves cleaned. While i had a very carbon'd up head sitting in the workshop, i thought it would be a great time to do a comparison on the different methods to do the intake valve clean on a direct injection engine. I had previously done a walnut blast on my other engine, however i was genuinely curious how the chemical options compare, if they are compare-bale and worth considering.
