A KINGDOM NOT FROM HERE | John 18:33–36 | Jesus Christ the True King What kind of King is Jesus? When Pontius Pilate asked, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus revealed a truth that continues to challenge every generation: “My kingdom is not of this world.” — John 18:36, NKJV In this powerful Bible teaching, we examine Jesus’ words during His trial before Pilate and discover the nature, source, and purpose of Christ’s kingdom. Jesus did not come to establish His reign through political power, violence, fear, manipulation, or human control. His kingdom comes from God and advances through truth, righteousness, mercy, sacrificial love, repentance, service, and transformed lives. Jesus did not deny that He was King. Instead, He showed that His kingship is greater than any earthly throne. Pilate appeared to have authority over Jesus, but in reality, he was standing before the eternal King whose authority could never be given by Rome or taken away by an empire. In this episode, we explore: Why Jesus refused to be defined by other people’s accusations What Jesus meant when He said, “My kingdom is not of this world” Why Christ’s followers did not fight to establish His kingdom How the cross became the place where Jesus’ kingship was revealed The difference between worldly power and the authority of God How believers can live under the reign of Christ today Whether our lives are being shaped by fear, control, pride, and retaliation—or by truth, humility, forgiveness, holiness, courage, justice, mercy, and love Jesus was not defeated by the cross. He willingly laid down His life to fulfill the Father’s saving purpose. His throne was revealed through sacrifice, His crown was made of thorns, and His victory came not by taking life but by giving His own life and rising again. The message of John 18:33–36 is clear: Jesus is truly King, but He is not the kind of king the world expects. His kingdom is not from here, yet it transforms the world one heart, one home, and one life at a time. As you watch, prayerfully consider: Which kingdom is shaping my life? Am I living according to the values of this world—pride, status, control, fear, and retaliation? Or am I living under the rule of Christ—with truth, humility, forgiveness, courage, holiness, justice, mercy, and sacrificial love? Prayer Lord Jesus, You are my King. Forgive me for the times I have trusted worldly power, fear, or control more than I have trusted You. Teach me to live according to the values of Your kingdom—truth, humility, justice, mercy, courage, and sacrificial love. Let Your rule be seen in my heart, my home, and my choices. Amen.
