Laundry for seven people is roughly 245 pieces of clothing a week- before towels, bedding, or pajamas. I'm Mandy, mom of 5 making 1,200 sq ft work for our family of 7, and this is our simple laundry system that finally ended pile-ups. No more laundry mountain! I'll walk you through our laundry routine for a large family in a small house. The whole system is divide and conquer: every room has its own basket, so dirty laundry gets sorted by where it gets put away, not by who wears it. One basket starts and ends in the same room. I'll walk you through our laundry routine- the schedule, how my husband and I split the work, how the big kids contribute, and why keeping our clothing inventory low matters more than any basket trick. I also gave up matching socks on purpose. Odd socks go in the odd sock bin and the occupants sort them out. This isn't laundry hacks- it's a repeatable simple living rhythm for busy moms, small-house homemaking, and large family logistics. If you need laundry motivation or want to learn how to do laundry without it taking your whole day, start here. Tell me in the comments: does your laundry have a home, or does it live on the couch? What is the one chore that always makes you feel behind? Subscribe for weekly homemaking and simple living for a large family on a budget.
