ot didn't wake up one morning and decide to become part of Sodom. In Genesis 13, Lot chooses the land that looks best and pitches his tent near Sodom. By Genesis 14, Scripture tells us that Lot is living in Sodom, and suddenly he's caught in a war that had nothing to do with him. In this Bible study through Genesis 13–14, we look at Lot's gradual movement toward Sodom, the danger of placing ourselves too close to things we believe we can handle, Abram's rescue of Lot, and the mysterious appearance of Melchizedek. More importantly, we'll ask what this story exposes in us: What have we allowed ourselves to stay close to because we're convinced it won't affect us? In this study: • Why Abram and Lot separated • Lot's decision to settle near Sodom • How proximity can slowly become participation • Abram's rescue of Lot • Who Melchizedek was and why he matters • What Abram teaches us about choosing who we align ourselves with Scripture: Genesis 13–14; 2 Peter 2:7–8 My Bible Study Resource Library: https://eddie-isom.kit.com/d099c43633
