🍳 Welcome, Decking Diners, to The Deck Chef! Today, we’re cooking up Typal Synergies, a deliberately casual Bracket 1 Commander deck with a secret ingredient hiding somewhere in the 99. I’m not going to spoil who our secret commander is just yet—but I will give you a hint: when it comes to creature types, the more, the merrier. Our recipe revolves around filling the deck with non-Human creatures sporting two, three, or even more creature types, allowing seemingly unrelated monsters to share an unexpected amount of typal synergy. Dinosaurs, Vampires, Knights, Pirates, Merfolk, Cats, and whatever other wonderfully overqualified creatures we can find all have a chance to contribute to the feast. Instead of building around a single tribe, we’re looking for creatures that can wear several hats at once, letting one card connect different pieces of our board in some surprisingly useful ways. And somewhere among this bizarre menagerie is the creature the entire recipe is secretly built around. Once our secret commander joins the table, all those overlapping creature types suddenly start making a lot more sense.
