Thumbnail Picture: Eric Prado It has been over 100 years since one of Portland, Oregon’s most prominent islands, Ross Island, was seriously pursued to become a massive park. Since then much of the island has been eradicated by sand and gravel removal but once it was a flourishing haven of isolated nature, just begging for development into park land. This is the story about how this park idea came to be and the hurdles that prevented it from becoming a reality.
