Batam City (Day 1)

For the September holidays, we decided to visit Batam on the recommendations of friends, as we heard there are a lot more kid-friendly attractions now (our last visit together was 15 years ago, before we even got married!). Took a comfy ferry ride across the sea, before checking in at Harris Hotel Nagoya, and “bumped” into friends at the hotel just across the road! Hope the kids don’t get used to being surprised with friends on holidays all the time haha. Then it was off to One Batam Mall, where we had a really value-for-money lunch, and once our bellies were happy, we headed to Hello Monster indoor playground where the kids had a blast! The fun didn’t end there - we ate and drank our way through all the snack stalls at the basement, then the kids all descended on the huge arcade, to play to their hearts’ content! The second last activity for the day was go-karting at Dash Kart, where all the kids could ride their own karts, even Lauren, albeit at a slower speed. Finally we had a quick dinner at the mall before calling it a day and heading back to the hotel. Whew! What a productive day! It’s not the best for shopping, but One Batam Mall is definitely the place to go to for kids’ entertainment. There was another indoor playground catered to younger kids but looked super huge and fun too. We’ll likely be back again soon! Stay tuned for Day 2’s adventures!
