Welcome to Delmar Christian Center. What should begin to grow in our lives when we truly abide in Jesus Christ? In Part 1 of our four-part series on the Fruit of the Spirit, Pastor Douglas transitions from our study of abiding in Christ in John 15 into the teaching of Galatians 5. Jesus described Himself as the Vine and His followers as the branches. A branch that remains connected to the vine receives what it needs to live and bear fruit. In the same way, when we remain connected to Christ, the Holy Spirit begins working within us—changing our hearts, shaping our character, and producing spiritual fruit in our lives. This message lays the foundation for understanding what the Fruit of the Spirit really means. In this message: • How abiding in Christ leads to bearing spiritual fruit • Why Christians need a continuous relationship with Jesus • What it means to remain connected to the True Vine • Why God's work must begin within our own hearts • The importance of reading and obeying Scripture • How the Holy Spirit renews our minds and changes our lives • Why freedom in Christ is freedom from the bondage of sin • The importance of repentance when we fall • Why Christians shouldn't pretend to be perfect • How our changed lives become a witness to others • An introduction to Galatians 5 and the Fruit of the Spirit • Why love fulfills the law • How believers learn to walk in the Spirit The Fruit of the Spirit isn't primarily about becoming better at telling everyone else how they should live. Before we focus on changing the people around us, we need to allow God to work within our own hearts and lives. We aren't called to pretend that we have everything figured out. We are called to humble ourselves before God, recognize where we need to grow, and depend upon the strength of Jesus Christ to accomplish what we cannot accomplish on our own. As we surrender to Christ, the Holy Spirit begins shaping our character so that our lives increasingly display His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And when we stumble, we don't have to remain defeated. Our freedom in Christ gives us the opportunity to get back up, repent, seek God's strength, and continue growing. This is where our study of the Fruit of the Spirit begins. Stay connected to Christ. Walk in the Spirit. And allow God to produce His fruit within you. 🙏 If this message encourages or challenges you, please Like, Share, and Subscribe so you don't miss Parts 2–4 of our Fruit of the Spirit series. 📖 Scripture References John 15 Galatians 5 1 John Matthew 11:30 #FruitOfTheSpirit #Galatians5 #AbidingInChrist #WalkInTheSpirit #ChristianLiving #SpiritualGrowth #HolySpirit #BearingFruit #JesusChrist #BibleTeaching #ChristianSermon #DelmarChristianCenter
