At first, it looks almost too wide. But the more I watched it, the more I started to understand why it can make sense. One of the biggest benefits I noticed is the **perspective of the ball through the hitting zone**. By starting in a position that is already close to where he will eventually land during the swing, Honeycutt can see the pitch from a viewpoint that stays much more consistent throughout the entire movement. Instead of making a big positional change while the ball is coming in, he is already seeing the pitch from something close to his final hitting position. 🥎 In this video I break down: • Ryan Honeycutt’s wide starting stance • Why his stride looks so different • How stance width can affect pitch perception • Seeing the ball from your eventual contact position • Why reducing visual movement can potentially help timing • How his setup changes the way the pitch travels through his visual field • What I personally liked when trying the idea • What recreational slowpitch hitters can learn from it This doesn’t mean everyone should immediately copy Honeycutt’s exact stance. That is not the point of this series. The goal is to study what elite hitters do, understand *why* they might be doing it, and experiment with the parts that could improve our own swings. And in this case, the perspective shift created by the long stride was much more interesting than I expected. 💬 Would you ever try starting this wide, or does it feel completely wrong to you? 👍 LIKE if you want more pro swing breakdowns 💬 COMMENT which player I should analyze next 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for more slowpitch hitting tips, tournament footage, interviews and swing analysis Footage credit / copyright notice Some footage used in this video is shown for **commentary, criticism, analysis and educational purposes**.
