It is the year 2026, and hardcore has been around for half a century. In that time, it seems like "the scene" keeps making the same mistakes over and over again, caving into a groupthink jock mentality that trades in sopirited rebellion against the stale status quo for high-school notions of conformity, gatekeeping, and who is in the cool kids' club. There are also people who are surprised by this. I am not one of them. While my channel seeks to focus more on political commentary and current events, I decided to launch my first full video about Bananagate 2026 and ask the deepest question- Is this it? Is this the best hardcore has to offer? I don't believe so, and I believe that most of the takes going around about this incident are, to put it mildly, uneducated, stupid, or designed to troll for reactions and clout. SO, listen along. Like/subscribe/ring the bell, or tell me why I'm wrong. Do festive outfits have a place at hardcore shows? Should people who wear them be targeted for violence above and beyond what the normal level of mosh/dancing happens and have their costume destroyed? Who is ultimately responsible: The band End It? The Banana Guy? The members of the crowd who decided to act on Akil's suggestion? Do you agree or disagree that the costume was taking attention away from Akil as a black man and was somehow raciallky charged? You tell me in the comments below, and have a posi day!
