Today we'll be taking a look at the best trailer wiring options for your 2012 Ford Escape. The first one we'll be taking a look at today is the Takontra 00:00:06 T1 connector wiring harness for Ford Escapes without factory tow package. Part number 118551. The second one we'll be taking a look at today is the Takontra T1 connector wiring harness for Ford Escapes with factory tow package. Part number 118251. Both of them are going to come with everything you need to get them installed. As you can see, the one designed for Ford Escapes with tow package is going to be a lot less complicated than the one designed without tow package. With that being said, they're both still relatively easy to get installed. If you have a factory tow package, this connector here is going to plug directly in to your tow port here on the driver's side of the rear. Then you can just route your 4 pole wiring wherever you'd like it, and then you're all set. This Ford Escape does not have a factory tow package so it's a little more complicated, but not too bad. We have connectors that run through our driver and passenger side taillights. The module box can be attached on the inside behind the driver's side of the taillight using the double-sided tape. The ground simply attaches to the factory ground wire behind the driver's side taillight, then we attach our power wire and run it all the way up to our battery terminal on the Ford Escape. Then you just want to be sure not to attach it to anything hot, sharp, or any suspension components. Then we'll just continue running it up towards the front, then it's a matter of just running it up from underneath, attaching it to your fuse holder, and then attaching it to the positive side of your battery. One thing about the wiring harness designed for Ford Escapes without the tow package, is the modulight power module. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your taillight circuits. Overall without a tow package, this is your best option. With a tow package, this is your only option and is the easiest to install. Now that we've gone over the best trailer wiring options for your Ford Escape, we hope this helps you in your buying decision.
