A railed corridor between the Georgia cities of Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah is part of the Federal Railroad Administration's Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor in the United States.

Though these places are connected by Norfolk Southern and CSX freight rail rights of way, they are not currently served by passenger rail.
Analysis by the Georgia Department of transportation may change that. The agency is currently studying alternatives to bridge that gap. Though this is part of the SEHSR, it's unlikely that true high speed passenger rail is a viable option.
The FRA defines high speed rail at 110mph top speed, and this is obtainable with diesel-electric trains on some upgrades sections of the freight network. Something like that is more probable, but the we don't know yet because the study is running late! Let's imagine this as true high speed passenger rail and 110mph passenger rail and see if either make any sense.
