Evolution of Berlin | Fixed-Camera Timelapse: A Broken and Reborn Metropolis

Once a modest pair of fishing settlements, Cölln and Berlin, scattered along the marshy banks of the Spree, the city grew from timber houses, church spires, and river trade into one of Europe’s most turbulent and fascinating capitals. As a stationary observer, you witness the transformation of this urban landscape: from medieval market squares and royal palaces, through a grand boulevard, war-torn ruins, and a divided city split by a wall, to the reunified, creative metropolis of today. Following its designation as the capital of the new German Empire in 1871, Berlin exploded into a major European industrial, architectural, and scientific powerhouse. It became a global center for avant-garde art, modernist architecture (such as the Bauhaus movement), revolutionary theater (Bertolt Brecht), cinema, and literature. During the "Golden Twnties", the city was famous for its vibrant, uninhibited cabaret and jazz scenes, as well as a visible queer and experimental subculture. 🔥 Get up to 50% off Higgsfield to create AI videos and images for three hours when you sign up through my link: https://higgsfield.ai?fpr=timelapsest... However, because this project covers an extremely long period of history and a major urban transformation, some mistakes, simplifications, and inaccuracies are inevitable.
