How to sew jean shorts (jorts) from scratch — pattern, cutting and sewing, start to finish — on ONE straight-stitch machine. Every seam in this video, including the double gold topstitching, is sewn on a single-needle lockstitch machine (an industrial Jack). No twin needle, no double-needle machine, no bartack machine; only the seam allowances are overlocked. A regular home sewing machine with a denim needle 100/16 and topstitching thread can do the same. I draft the pattern from body measurements, cut dark indigo denim, sew the curved front pockets and the welt pockets on the back, the fly with a metal button, the waistband with belt loops, and finish the hem with contrast topstitching. Knee-length, straight leg.
