Travel east along G318 into Erlang Mountain canyon. Known as the natural barrier on Sichuan-Tibet highway, Erlang Mountain separates the western Sichuan plateau and Sichuan Basin. Pass through Erlangshan Tunnel, then arrive at Tianquan County, an ancient stop on the Tea Horse Road. Lush forests and deep valleys run along the road. Continue to Feixianguan, where Qingyi River and Tianquan River meet. It was the ancient critical pass to Tibet. Final destination Ya’an, famous for gentle rain, the eastern starting point of G318. Landscape and vegetation gradually change from plateau valley to basin woodland.
