I Found a Hidden World Around Jog Falls in Monsoon 😱 | Karnataka

I came to see Jog Falls in monsoon… but the waterfall wasn't the only thing I found. Over two days, I explored the world around Jog Falls. From the rain-soaked roads of Kargal and Sharavathi Valley to Panchalingeshwara, hidden stretches of forest, paddy fields, the Sharavathi backwaters and finally a room with a direct view of Jog Falls. What started as a trip to see one of Karnataka's most famous waterfalls slowly turned into something else. I stayed at KSTDC Mayura Gerusoppa, explored Jog Falls in the fog and rain, followed roads that I wasn't even sure would lead anywhere, met locals along the way, and eventually found myself stuck in the mud with no mobile network and rising water nearby. Jog Falls is formed by the Sharavathi River and its four cascades — Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer. But the waterfall is only one part of this landscape. The forests, rivers, backwaters, villages, temples and hidden waterfalls around it are what made this journey special. If you're planning a Jog Falls trip, don't just stop at the main viewpoint. Give yourself some time to explore what lies around it. I still missed Bheemeshwara Temple and its waterfall — which means there is already a reason to return.
