The phrase "next habitable planet" gets thrown around like it means something reassuring. It doesn't. The closest known exoplanet candidate, Proxima Centauri b, orbits a violent red dwarf star that blasts radiation powerful enough to strip the air off a world. It may be tidally locked. It may have no atmosphere at all. And at the speed of our fastest spacecraft, reaching it would take over 75,000 years. But that's just the beginning of the problem. In this documentary, we go system by system through every nearby candidate, Barnard's Star, Ross 128, Tau Ceti, Teegarden's Star, TRAPPIST-1, LHS 1140, and reveal what scientists actually know versus what headlines claim. The answer is devastating. Not one exoplanet in any catalog has been confirmed habitable. Not one has a verified atmosphere. Out of more than 6,400 confirmed exoplanets, only 45 even pass a basic screening for rocky composition, right orbit, and suitable star. The rest fail before the real tests even begin. We explore why every nearby candidate orbits a red dwarf, why that's a problem science hasn't solved, why K-dwarf stars may be the real answer, and why the nearest genuinely habitable world might be far more distant than anyone wants to admit. This is not a countdown of promising planets. This is the honest story of what stands between us and the next place anything could live.
