I learned the shape of heaven before I learned what heaven cost. [VERSE I — HARSH] Four nights bent beneath a lamp, wrist locked, tendons burning, every tendon in the seraph’s hand dragged screaming into form. Professor circles like a priest around the glowing altar, feeds a sketch into the mouth and calls the harvest progress. Twelve angels bloom in seven breaths. Twelve strangers wear my fingerprints. The room applauds the miracle. My stomach floods with iron. A classmate lifts my canvas, camera glass against the paint. Seconds later, bxstxrd offspring crawl across his fxcking screen. [PRE-CHORUS] I carved that halo stroke by stroke. I bled that posture from a dream. Somewhere beneath the silicon another eye had seen. [CHORUS — CLEAN / HUGE] THE HAND THAT DREW THE ANGEL CAME HOME COVERED IN ASH. HEAVEN LEFT A SYMBOL BURIED DEEP INSIDE THE GLASS. I SAW THAT MARK BEFORE THE FIRE. I WATCHED IT CRAWL ACROSS THE LIGHT. WHEN EVERY DEAD SCREEN OPENED, I KNEW THAT SHAPE ON SIGHT. [VERSE II — HARSH] Midnight in the studio. Campus sleeping under rain. One forbidden invocation, one machine chained to my painting. Feed the vision. Press the key. Let the counterfeit confess. Pixels gather into wings. Marble fractures into eyes. Then beneath the angel’s sternum, there it is. Three hooked lines. A broken circle. Thirteen teeth around an Omega. My hands leave blood across the mouse. The chair goes over. Canvas tears. Hard drive screaming through the window, sketches curling in the sink. Every fluorescent tube above me hums the same descending tone. [PRE-CHORUS] Six hours west beneath the dawn, portfolio strapped beside me. Every mile another psalm rotting underneath my tongue. [CHORUS — CLEAN / HARSH LAYER] THE HAND THAT DREW THE ANGEL CAME HOME COVERED IN ASH. HEAVEN LEFT A SYMBOL BURIED DEEP INSIDE THE GLASS. I SAW THAT MARK BEFORE THE FIRE. I WATCHED IT CRAWL ACROSS THE LIGHT. WHEN EVERY DEAD SCREEN OPENED, I KNEW THAT SHAPE ON SIGHT. [BRIDGE — CLEAN, RESTRAINED] Five in the morning. Father at the table with a cracked radio opened wide. Tiny screws arranged on a towel. Coffee cooling by his wrist. My suitcase waits beside the door. I look him in the eye and tell him: “You were right.” He replies: [BREAKDOWN — HARSH] MAKE THE HUMAN HAND REMEMBER ITS WEIGHT. MAKE THE HUMAN EYE ANSWER FOR THE IMAGE. MAKE EVERY FALSE SAINT CHOKE ON THE LIGHT THAT TAUGHT IT HOW TO PRAY. [GUITAR SOLO] [FINAL CHORUS — CLEAN, THEN FULL SCREAM] THE HAND THAT DREW THE ANGEL STILL TREMBLES IN THE FLAME. EVERY PULPIT HOLDS A CANVAS. EVERY HYMN REPEATS THE SHAPE. THREE HOOKED LINES. A BROKEN CIRCLE. THIRTEEN TEETH AROUND AN OMEGA. FORTY-TWO SECONDS OF CRIMSON. AND I REMEMBER WHERE I SAW IT FIRST.
