A melody so beautiful it doesn’t feel real

The opening minutes of Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 23 No. 4 in D major. From the very first note, the music puts you in some kind of mood. The arpeggiated sequence sets the tone, and then the singing melody comes in. This voice has a weight to it (marked mf), and brings with it the most human of mannerisms. A sigh. An anticipation. The release. It continues on with counter-melodies, drawing the listener's attention deeper into its narrative. Performed by me, Lisztopher.
