Inauguration ceremony of Rose - Marie's School, Zangla Zanskar

It was a proud and deeply moving moment for the Zangla Nunnery School as we inaugurated a new school building, Rose-Marie’s School, Changchub Chöling Nunnery, Zangla, Zanskar. This beautiful building was designed and financed by Jean-Marie Charles in loving memory of his wife, Rose - marie. Their story is one of extraordinary kindness and commitment. Nearly 34 years ago, the couple decided to support the people of the Zanskar region. After Rosemarie passed away, Jean-Marie carried forward her dream and worked to make it a reality. Thus began the story of Rosemary’s School. The inauguration ceremony was graced by members of the Royal Family of Zangla, Rotary Club President Phunchok Wangdan Leh, Zonal Planning Officer Tsewang Dorje, and many other distinguished guests who travelled from near and far to join this special occasion. The ceremony began with Tashi Rabne, offering prayers and blessings for the school and all those who will learn and grow here. The students of Zangla Nunnery School presented a beautiful song dedicated to Jean-Marie, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for his generosity and vision. The Women’s Association, Army Association, and Students’ Association also came forward with wonderful performances, making the celebration truly vibrant and meaningful. What made the occasion even more special was the beautiful collaboration between the village community and the nunnery. Together, they came forward to celebrate a shared dream and a new chapter in education for Zangla. It is a privilege and a blessing to have this school in Zangla. With heartfelt gratitude to Meme Jean-Marie for helping bring Rose -marie’s dream to life. May her memory continue to inspire generations of children in Zanskar. 🙏🌸
