Are you preparing for the GSSSB CCE Group A Mains Examination and seeking expert guidance to master Paper 1 - Gujarati Language Skill? In this syllabus analysis masterclass, our competitive exam specialist breaks down the official Gujarati Language descriptive syllabus for the Gujarat Subordinate Services Class-3 Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Group-A Mains 2026. For candidates targeting top administrative posts such as Secretariat Assistant, Head Clerk, Senior Clerk, and Office Assistant, Gujarati descriptive drafting is a decisive factor in securing a merit rank. In this lecture, the expert explores four primary descriptive formats: Essay Writing (Nibandh), Expansion of Thought (Vichar Vistar), Précis Writing (Sanksheptikaran), and Prose Review (Gadhya Samiksha), explaining formatting rules and scoring strategies.
The GSSSB CCE Group-A Main Examination is an advanced descriptive assessment carrying 350 marks across three papers:
• Paper 1: Gujarati Language Skill (100 Marks | 3 Hours)
• Paper 2: English Language Skill (100 Marks | 3 Hours)
• Paper 3: General Studies (150 Marks | 3 Hours)
With 200 out of 350 marks assigned to language skills, language proficiency determines your final merit ranking. Scoring high marks in descriptive Gujarati requires structured presentation, administrative vocabulary, grammatical precision, and neat handwriting.
1. Essay Writing (Nibandh Lekhan – 15 Marks):
Candidates must write one essay of approximately 250 words chosen from three options covering descriptive, analytical, reflective, and contemporary issues. The expert explains how to:
• Select the most scoring topic based on conceptual clarity and factual data.
• Frame an impactful introduction (Prastavna) incorporating relevant quotes.
• Structure the body into cohesive paragraphs addressing administrative aspects.
• Conclude with a balanced, forward-looking summary (Upsanhar).
2. Thought Expansion (Vichar Vistar – 10 Marks):
Candidates must expand two out of three poetic lines or prose maxims in approximately 100 words each (5 marks each). Key guidance includes:
• Unpacking figurative meanings rather than writing literal paraphrases.
3. Précis Writing (Sanksheptikaran – 10 Marks):
Condensing a given prose passage into one-third of its original length:
• Identifying the central premise while discarding redundant illustrations.
• Assigning a precise, meaningful title (Shirshak) reflecting the core subject.
• Maintaining logical continuity in your own words without adding personal opinions.
4. Prose Review (Gadhya Samiksha – 10 Marks):
Evaluates analytical comprehension through questions based on an unseen prose passage:
• Grasping authorial intent and identifying core factual details.
• Formulating direct, articulate answers rather than copying raw sentences.
• Maintaining brevity and grammatical precision for maximum scoring.
This video marks the first part of our comprehensive Gujarati Language syllabus series. In the upcoming second session, the expert will analyze the remaining descriptive formats: Letter Writing (Patra Lekhan - 5 Marks), Press Releases (Prachar Madhyamo mate Nivedan - 5 Marks), Discussion Papers (Charcha Patra - 10 Marks), Report Writing (Aheval Lekhan - 10 Marks), English-to-Gujarati Translation (10 Marks), and functional Gujarati Grammar (15 Marks). To build exam readiness, candidates should practice drafting one format daily under timed conditions and read editorials in reputable Gujarati dailies to expand their administrative vocabulary.
This session is tailored for aspirants across Gujarat—including Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara—preparing for GSSSB CCE Group A and Group B examinations.
