Meridian – Perimeter Lights in the Cold Mist (1979) [Full Album] Transferred directly from the original 1/2" 2-track master tape (15 IPS stereo, recorded at AIR Studios London & East Anglian Mobile Unit). ALBUM LORE & RECORDING HISTORY: Tracked during the freezing winter of late 1979 on the coastal bluffs overlooking the North Sea, "Perimeter Lights in the Cold Mist" captures the stark isolation of Cold War Britain. Conceived around abandoned coastal radar outposts, encrypted teletype signals, and freezing channel fog, the album bridges expansive symphonic rock with the brooding textures of British art-rock. The recording features expansive Yamaha CS-80 brass pads, singing chorused fretless bass, icy Solina String Ensemble washes, and David Gilmour-inspired Stratocaster leads pushed through twin Roland JC-120 amplifiers and vintage analog tape delays. TRACKLIST & CHAPTERS: SIDE A: THE FROZEN PERIMETER 00:00 – Perimeter Lights at Dawn (CS-80 synth pads, chorused fretless bass & 3-minute weeping Stratocaster solo) 05:47 – The North Sea Ferry (Fender Rhodes & Solina strings ballad; mournful late-night coastal melodies) 11:29 – The Radar Watcher’s Dilemma (Intricate 7/8 art-rock suite; Minimoog sequencer & biting tube overdrive duel) SIDE B: COLD WAR SIGNALS 16:22 – Blue Twilight Over Dover (Acoustic piano & cello ballad with soaring continuous guitar outro) 22:14 – Sub-Zero Telemetry (Driving Cold War art-rock; pulsing synth bass, morse code textures & sharp rhythms) 26:06 – Avenue of the Winter Mist (Pastoral acoustic interlude; 12-string fingerpicking, Rhodes chords & whispered vocals) 30:24 – Signals in the Frozen Channel (11-minute magnum opus suite with climactic 4.5-minute uninterrupted guitar finale) ARCHIVE & RECORDING SPECIFICATIONS: • Band: Meridian • Release Year: 1979 • Master Tape: Ampex ATR-102 1/2" (15 IPS Master Tape Transfer) • Primary Equipment: 1972 Fender Stratocaster, Yamaha CS-80, Minimoog, Solina String Ensemble, Fender Rhodes Mark I, Wal Custom Fretless Bass, Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus, Echoplex EP-3. • Recommended for listeners of: Pink Floyd ('Animals', 'The Wall', David Gilmour 1978), Camel ('Rain Dances'), The Alan Parsons Project ('Pyramid', 'I Robot'), UK, Peter Gabriel.
