From the pebble beaches to the cliff rocks beyond the harbor, Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy reveals itself one cove at a time under full Ligurian sun. This walk follows the coastline from the palm-lined piazza past the 1550 Castello and out to the rocky swimming spots where locals claim flat stones instead of sand. 📍 TIMESTAMPS 00:00:00 Santa Margherita Ligure Seafront 00:04:30 Palm-Lined Piazza 00:06:30 Hotel Miramare Cove 00:10:15 Wooden Jetty Swimming Cove 00:17:15 Bagni Metropole 00:23:45 Portofino Headland View 00:26:15 Mare per Tutti Kiosk 00:29:30 Columbus Fountain 00:33:30 The Castello 00:37:15 Town Parish Area 00:43:30 Yacht Bar Square 00:45:15 Centro Nautico Ligure Marina 00:47:00 Umberto I Monument 00:49:30 Hotel Miramare Facade 00:53:45 Ochre Villa on Stone Arches 00:59:45 Cliff Terrace 01:00:15 Turquoise Rock Pools 01:03:00 Gravel Cove Swim Platform 01:05:43 Outro 📺 WATCH NEXT: ▶ You may also like: STAUBBACHFALL: 297 Meters Straight Down Into Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland —    • Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland 🇨🇭 Valley of 72...   ▶ Full playlist:    • Italy 4K Walking Tours — Venice, Portofino...   🌍 ABOUT THIS WALK: The route begins at the yellow stone balustrade above the main beach and follows the shoreline east through pebble coves, past the harbor, and out along the cliff road. Santa Margherita Ligure sits just 13 meters above sea level, and in 1813 Napoleonic rule merged the old villages of Pescino and Corte into a single town called Porto Napoleone. Built in 1550, the Castello still stands guard where the harbor meets open water. Villa Durazzo's terraced gardens, laid out in the 17th century, climb the wooded slope behind the passenger pier. At the Columbus fountain, a marble figure raises one arm toward the sea, its base reading "A Cristoforo Colombo," paid for by the town's own citizens. Underfoot, smooth pebbles replace sand on every beach. Most locals wear water shoes on these hot stones. Waves slap low against the breakwater boulders, and past the harbor mouth, the road narrows to a single lane pressed against the cliff. Here the walk ends, where bare rock drops straight into turquoise water and swimmers pick their own entry point between boulders. Its 8,515 residents (2023 count) share this coast with the constant salt air, and by the time shade starts climbing down the cliff face, the whole bay glows a copper green. ♿ ACCESSIBILITY: Subtitles are created with extra care for viewers with hearing impairments. 🎧 THE LUMEN WALKS EXPERIENCE: Real 4K.
