This easy French toast bake is my go-to for special occasions. Let's make a simple, comforting breakfast together. Recipe: Baked Brioche and Maple French Toast Casserole Serves: 6–8 Prep time: 30 minutes Cook time: 40 minutes Difficulty: Easy Ingredients 1 loaf brioche/egg challah bread, 13–16 oz 8 eggs 2 cups heavy cream 1 cup milk 1 cup maple syrup 1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract ½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice Pinch of kosher salt Praline topping ½ pound butter, cold and cut into small pieces 1 cup packed light brown sugar 1 cup pecans, walnuts, or almonds, roughly chopped 2 tablespoons maple syrup 1 teaspoon five-spice Combine the praline ingredients in a medium bowl. Blend well and set aside. Directions 1. Slice the brioche into 1-inch slices or cubes. Arrange in an ovenproof ceramic pan in two slightly overlapping layers. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, maple syrup, almond or vanilla extract, Chinese five-spice, and salt until well combined. 3. Pour the mixture over the brioche, making sure all slices are evenly covered. Spoon some of the mixture between the slices. 4. Let rest for 20 minutes so the brioche can absorb the cream mixture. 5. Spread the praline mixture over the casserole and cover with foil. 6. Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes, or until puffed and lightly golden. 7. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving. 8. Serve with extra maple syrup and powdered sugar. You can also serve it with whipped cream and your favorite berries. Enjoy! Making this brioche casserole is one of those small, intentional acts that makes a morning feel special. I am using some holiday challah bread, cutting it into chunks, and assembling it right in the baking dish with a maple mixture.
