Today, experience a real day in the life of elderly grandparents living in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Nepal—from early-morning cardamom harvesting to traditional buff curry cooking in their temporary village hut. Deep in the mountains of Eastern Nepal, an elderly couple continues their simple rural life surrounded by memories, family, nature, and everyday challenges. Their old permanent house holds many memories of raising their children and building their dreams. Today, their children live far away from the village for better education and a better future, while the grandparents continue working hard and living close to nature. During the cardamom harvesting season, the grandparents travel around their old permanent house and surrounding land to collect cardamom. Although the old house remains an important part of their life, they currently stay in a temporary hut closer to the greenery and jungle because their animals need daily care and fresh grass. From early morning until evening, you will see their authentic mountain village routine—collecting cardamom, caring for animals, gathering grass, preparing food, cooking, and sharing a traditional meal together. After finishing the cardamom work, they return to their temporary hut. Mama takes care of the animals while Papa prepares a traditional village-style buff soup/curry meal using simple local ingredients. After cooking, they sit together and enjoy their homemade food surrounded by beautiful cloudy mountain views and peaceful natural sounds.
