Making Fantasies Come True: One Story at a Time… and it is time to prepare for my third class as a CCD Teacher.
Before we get into the meat of the video and all about how teaching CCD is going, let’s talk about the books that I am reading and recently got. I am currently reading 4 different books: This Is My Body by Bishop Robert Barron, Charlie and Frog by Karen Kane, As Old as Time by Liz Braswell, and Perfectly Yourself by Matthew Kelly. I haven’t started As Old as Time yet, but I would like to start reading it soon, but the other books I have started, and I am really enjoying each book. Even Bishop Robert Barron’s book which is very dense and full of history and knowledge. I am just not used to the information heavy content. The only other book that I read which is dense is my mental health book. But I am learning about how important the Eucharist is and all the names that it goes by.
Then on the 12th, I got four books from my priest that he got from Matthew Kelly’s Dynamic Catholic Parish Book Program, which is an evangelization program to hopefully engage the 32% of Catholics that only attend Mass on Christmas with great books. Christmas 2025, Matthew’s program gave out 4 books: The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence and introduction by Matthew Kelly, The Content Diet by Matthew Kelly, The Devil’s Plan for your Life by Stephen Anderson and Matthew Kelly, and 33-Days of Miracles, Wonders, and Grace by Matthew Kelly. All the books I am excited to read; I just have to find time to read them.
Now that I have talked about the books, let’s talk about Religion Class. So, I have had two classes already. The first class I had I thought was really great. All we really did was learn about God’s Creation and how he made everything out of Love and Goodness, then the kids colored God’s creations, and I asked about the different days in which God created each thing. Looking back on it, I truly believe that was the best way to teach the class.
But the second class was rough. My intention is to keep each class about the same as the last, but it was hard to color and reflect Lesson Two about Celebrating God’s Love. Our second class was a little rough and I asked my kids what they would like to do more of in the next classes. And they said they would like more activity pages and more activities in general. So that is the intention for the next class.
So, Class 3 is about God’s Gifts and how we are supposed to share them with others and how we are to rely on each other for no one person has all the gifts in the world. To get prepped for class, I read the lesson plan the curriculum has set up. I then bought some cups that I will end up stacking up and show how we all rely on each other to use our gifts to spread God’s love. I then made some puzzles on Sunday for the kids to have some activities to have. I haven’t quite learned how I am going to incorporate the saint of the week, which is Saint John of the Cross, but I will find a way. I also need to figure out how to incorporate more prayer into the class. My whole journey with teaching is a learning process, especially since this is my first year, but by the end of the year I should have everything figured out. I just wonder if I will do it next year and if I will still be teaching first grade… who knows.
But other than that, I did some reading, which I didn’t record. I also decided that I am going to go back down to two videos a week because three videos have been exhausting and I just want to enjoy a break every once in a while. I plan on posting Tuesday and Thursday; a writing vlog and a miscellaneous video. Anyways, I hope you all have a great day, and I will see you next time… and remember to keep making fantasies come true, one story at a time. And I will see you next time… bye.
