3 MINUTES OF A SALMON SWIMMING UPSTREAM

I visited a local creek to find a few salmon still making their way upstream at the end of this spawning season in the Pacific Northwest. The species of salmon is Chum, and like all their relatives, have a particularly prehistoric look near their final days in the stream. This individual spent a few moments with me to share a small portion of the end of his life as a salmon before becoming food and nutrients for the ecosystem in the coming days.
