At the height of the last Ice Age, a sheet of ice up to about three kilometers thick covered most of Canada. Then, in the far northwest, it stopped. In central Yukon, the Klondike lay within about one hundred fifty kilometers of that ice and was never buried at all.
Why did the ice sheets stop short, and what survived in the frozen ground they left alone?
This video follows the mammoths, the mummified wolf pup, the gold rush, the Bluefish Caves, and the oldest debate about when people first reached the Americas.
