Jesus is the Pattern of our own priestly ministry. Jesus was and is a Priest. The author of the letter to the Hebrews describes the sacrifices Jesus' offered: a. He offered prayer in His earthly ministry (Heb. 13:15) b. He offered up Himself by the Spirit to the Father on the cross (Heb. 9:14) c. Jesus continues to intercede in eternity (Heb. 7:24). He shares His burden with those who are called as intercessors. Jesus is our pattern in this. We are called to the same ministry: to prayer, to the offering of ourselves (as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1), and to the ministry of ongoing intercession.
