April 30, 1945. Soviet soldiers are fighting for every floor of the Reichstag. A kilometre away, beneath the garden of the Reich Chancellery, a single shot rings out in a concrete bunker. Eight days later, Germany surrenders — twice. This full-length documentary follows the fall of the Third Reich month by month, then day by day: from the Vistula to the Oder, Yalta, Dresden and Remagen, the Seelow Heights, Zhukov and Konev's race, Elbe Day, the bunker, the Reichstag and the two surrenders — told with archival film, animated maps and eyewitness words.
