Port Sunlight was founded in 1888 by William Hesketh Lever. The Village is home to more than 900 Grade ll listed buildings set in 130 acres of parkland & gardens. William Lever built Port Sunlight to house the workers at his Soap 🧼 Factory ~Lever Brothers ~which eventually became the Global Giant ~UNILEVER~. The Village represents one man's vision to provide industrial workers with decent sanitary housing,in a considered architectural & picturesque form... Rather than sharing the profits of the company directly with his employees,Lever provided them with decent & affordable houses, amenities,& welfare provisions that made their lives secure & comfortable.It also inspired loyalty & commitment. In 1885, together with his Brother James Darcy Lever, William established the business of Lever Brothers,& began manufacturing "Sunlight Soap"🧼 in Warrington, England. Needing more space to meet increasing demand,in 1888 the Brothers began construction of a new factory at "Port Sunlight".....
