Installing and Removing Ladder Standoff Purpose: To ensure proper installation and removal of a ladder standoff for safe use on roofs, preventing damage to gutters. ________________________________________ Required Tools and Materials: • Ladder standoff • Wing nuts • Brackets • Bar • Ladder ________________________________________ Procedure: Installing the Basic Ladder Standoff 1. Position the Standoff o Stand on the ladder and position the standoff so that it’s aligned with the ladder’s sides. o Shimmy the standoff into position, ensuring both sides are aligned correctly. 2. Install the Standoff o On each side, insert the bracket into the hole on the standoff, then press and squeeze until the bracket locks into place. o Repeat the process on both sides of the ladder. o Ensure the standoff is secure and evenly positioned on the ladder. Installing the Advanced Ladder Standoff (with Wing Nuts) 1. Remove the Existing Ladder Standoff o Unscrew the wing nuts from the standoff’s bars. o Pull the bars off the standoff, then set the parts aside. Keep track of the wing nuts, bars, and brackets to prevent loss. 2. Install the Brackets o Take one bracket and attach it to the inside of the ladder frame. Position the second bracket on the outside. o Note: The correct positioning ensures the bracket doesn’t slide by locking into place with the bar. 3. Attach the Bars o Insert the bars into the brackets, ensuring they are aligned properly. o Press down on the bars to fit them securely into place. 4. Attach the Wing Nuts o Install the wing nuts onto the bars, tightening them partially. o Repeat the process on both sides, ensuring the brackets are positioned securely. o Tighten the wing nuts completely to secure the standoff.
