We build the school on our own land, with our own money, and then
every weekday morning we hand the key to a woman who is not one of
us. She is the only outsider who comes onto this colony every day.
And before she arrives and after she leaves, the same children sit
in the same room and are taught by one of ours — a man with no
teaching certificate, whose job is not a subject but a childhood.
I keep the books on a colony in southern Alberta. In this video I
explain what the German school actually is, why children born in
Canada walk into that classroom as English language learners, what
the province is not allowed to teach here, why the most traditional
colonies stop at grade eight on purpose — and the name of my own
branch of this people, which I saved for the end because you will
not believe it.
My wife Eva runs the kitchen on this colony. She stopped at grade
eight, the same as I did, and she does not agree with me about it.
Her channel is linked on this video.

In the last video I said the children here are in a classroom
before breakfast. On some colonies that is right; on ours they eat
first. I correct it in this video at 12:15.
If you find an error, put it in the comments and I will pin the
correction. I would rather be right than look right.
