China is pushing deeper into the Himalayas with one of the most ambitious railway projects ever proposed — the China-Nepal Railway. But now, an unpredictable threat is emerging from the mountains themselves.
The proposed Kerung–Kathmandu Railway would connect Tibet with Nepal's capital through some of the world's most difficult terrain. Nepal's section is expected to be dominated by tunnels and bridges, making it an extraordinary engineering challenge in one of the world's most earthquake-prone mountain regions.
But engineering is only part of the story.
The Himalayas are warming, glaciers are changing, glacial lakes are expanding, and extreme floods are becoming a major concern for mountain infrastructure.
In 2026, catastrophic flooding along the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli corridor devastated infrastructure around the Nepal-China border, raising new questions about the resilience of roads, bridges, trade routes and future railway infrastructure in the region.
In this documentary, we explore the incredible story behind the China-Nepal Railway, the geological forces that created the Himalayas, the growing threat of glacier-related floods, and the geopolitical competition surrounding one of Asia's most strategically important mountain corridors.

Can the China-Nepal Railway survive the Himalayas?
This isn't just a story about a railway.
It's a story about China, Nepal, India, climate change, glaciers, geopolitics and the ultimate battle between human engineering and nature.
Do you think the China-Nepal Railway can overcome the Himalayan environment — or will nature become the project's biggest obstacle?
