Cairo Unfiltered: Living a Week in Egypt (Part 1) Join me as I return to Egypt for the first time in two years. Not just to explore, but to reconnect with a place that has shaped so many of my memories. From a rooftop apartment in downtown Cairo to chaotic night drives, endless bowls of koshary, and the timeless pyramids, this vlog is about seeing Egypt raw and unfiltered. 📍 Downtown Cairo The journey begins with my apartment tour in the heart of Cairo. Arabic books on the shelves, an incredible view over the city, and a rooftop that felt both magical and a little sketchy. From there, I dive into my first mukbang ever: Twinkies, HoHos (my all-time favourite), and mojito croissants from kishks, the street stalls tucked into almost every corner of the city. And of course, no Cairo trip starts without a pilgrimage to Koshary Abou Tarek Egypt’s most famous comfort food spot, a five-storey building that began as a single cart in 1950. 🕌 Markets & Food We head into the legendary Khan el-Khalili bazaar, a labyrinth dating back to the 14th century, where we sip tea and soak up Cairo’s electric energy. From there, it’s on to B.Laban, one of Egypt’s most famous dessert shops. Their creations blew me away, rich fudge and a playful “koshary-style” dessert made of cream and mango. Later that night I even get behind the wheel, trying to drive in Cairo’s chaos (and repeatedly missing speed bumps in the dark). More food follows, of course: Egyptian falafel and yet another round of koshary back at Abou Tarek. ⛰️ The Pyramids Back at my apartment, I helped water over 100 rooftop plants for my Airbnb host before heading out to Giza. Visiting the Pyramids of Giza today feels different: improved security, fewer scams, and a chance to just take in one of the world’s greatest wonders. I closed the visit with a coffee review at KAF Café inside the pyramids complex — easily the best backdrop I’ve ever had for my coffee series, with the pyramids looming behind me. 💭 Reflections & What’s Next This video is Part 1 of my Egypt series — mostly raw footage to let you see Cairo as it really is, without filters. From food and chaos to friendship and history, it’s about living Egypt, not just touring it. In Part 2, we’ll go inside the brand-new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to one civilisation, housing over 100,000 artefacts including the full Tutankhamun collection.
