Russell Gulch & Subway Canyon - Zion National Park - Full Experience

This is our full trip experience starting from Russell Gulch and continuing through the Subway Canyon in Zion National Park. While we were inside the Subway canyon, an unexpected flash flood hit, forcing us to wait about 4.5 hours before we could safely continue. The flash flood risk was not predicted by the weather service and park rangers had told us the weather pattern was unusual when we picked up our permits the day before. Fortunately, there are very few sustained narrow sections in this canyon so we felt pretty safe the whole time. The threat of a flash flood is a constant reality in slot canyons, even under clear skies, which is why we came prepared for the possibility of worst‑case conditions.
