These Bamboo Shoots Are So Hard to Harvest! | Rural Life in Vietnam

Welcome to Trieu Tam Tam! Today, I head into the forest to harvest fresh bamboo shoots. Some of the shoots have grown quite large, making them difficult to break from the ground. With experience, I have learned that harvesting tough bamboo shoots is not only about strength — it also requires the right technique, patience, and a little skill. After filling my basket, I take the fresh bamboo shoots to the village market to sell. If customers prefer, I also help peel off the tough outer layers so the bamboo shoots are clean and more convenient for them to take home and cook. After returning home, I harvest papayas and chop them into small pieces to cook feed for my pigs. I also use dried corn to feed the ducks. Taking care of livestock is another important part of my everyday countryside life. The next day, I return to the forest to collect some huge wild taro roots that I noticed while harvesting bamboo shoots the day before. These wild taro plants have grown surprisingly large in nature, making them a valuable seasonal find. Because the roots are too big and heavy to carry down the mountain whole, I cut them into smaller pieces before putting them into my basket. Wild taro of this size is not something I can find every day. After bringing it to the market, customers are very interested and it quickly sells out. From harvesting difficult bamboo shoots and selling them at the market to feeding my animals and finding huge wild taro in the forest, this video captures hard work, natural harvests, livestock care, and the simple rhythm of rural life in Vietnam. 🌾 Subscribe to Trieu Tam Tam for more authentic videos about rural life in Vietnam, harvesting bamboo shoots, forest harvests, village markets, farming, livestock care, and simple countryside life.
