Jon Dutton OBE: Leading Team GB
What does it take to lead one of the UK's best-known sporting brands?
In this episode of Managing Potential, Daniel Taylor talks to Jon Dutton OBE, four months into his role as CEO of Team GB.
Jon has spent 31 years working in sport. His career includes the Rugby League World Cup 2021, the PGA European Tour, UEFA, the Tour de France Grand Depart and British Cycling, where he led the organisation through a summer Olympic Games.
Jon reflects on the kind of manager he has been and why he surrounds himself with people who have different skills and who will give him honest advice, even when he doesn't want to hear it. He explains why he learns best by talking with people and stepping outside his comfort zone, and why he believes that without challenge there is no achievement. He also shares his advice for new managers. The episode ends with the quick-fire questions. Jon recommends Jim Collins' Good to Great and picks a song from a Stone Roses-style northern band that means a lot to him as a lifelong northerner.
