"The Blues Brothers Show" at Universal Studios Florida was a premier outdoor street performance located on Delancey Street in the park's New York area. First debuting in March 1991, the high-energy, 15-minute musical revue was a massive fan favorite during the year 2002. It perfectly captured the gritty, soulful, and comedic atmosphere of the iconic 1980 film. The show was highly regarded for its phenomenal live vocals, synchronized movie-accurate choreography, and a roaring soundscape that consistently drew massive standing crowds directly onto the park's brick-paved streets. Show Structure & Premise The daily show followed a tight, standard narrative structure that simulated a live pop-up concert: • The Warm-Up: Before the main attraction arrived, the crowd was warmed up by Mabel the Waitress (a powerhouse vocalist inspired by Aretha Franklin) and her partner, Jazz, a live saxophone player. Mabel kicked off the set with an electrifying rhythm-and-blues solo. • The Arrival: Right on cue, a loud siren echoed through the New York streets. The legendary Bluesmobile (a battered 1974 Mt. Prospect police car) careened around the corner, parking right next to the stage. • The Concert: Jake and Elwood Blues stepped out of the vehicle sporting their trademark black suits, porkpie hats, and dark sunglasses. They immediately launched into a rapid-fire setlist of classic blues, rock, and soul hits accompanied by signature synchronized cartwheels, knee-drops, and deadpan dancing.
